guarantor
A person, organization, or thing that provides a guarantee; a person who promises to pay a debt or perform an obligation if the primary party fails to do so.
In commercial leasing, a guarantor (often a parent company or a wealthy individual founder) signs the lease to promise they will pay the rent if the tenant's business goes bankrupt.
