Victimology
vik-tih-MOL-uh-jee
/ˌvɪktɪˈmɒlədʒi/

It's a subfield of criminology that focuses on the victim's role, characteristics, and experiences, not just the offender's.
The story behind the word. The term 'victimology' is a modern coinage, combining the Latin word 'victima' (meaning 'victim') with the Greek suffix '-logia' (meaning 'study of' or 'discourse').
