A set of mathematical rules or instructions used by dating apps to determine which profiles are shown to which users.

The story behind the word. The word comes from the name of the 9th-century Persian mathematician Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi. His name was Latinized as 'Algoritmi', which eventually became the term for the decimal numbering system and later for any logical process.
